I run an older GEO and it is great, but you need to have it pressurized. Varios CR140 looks like it accounts for the gas accumulations. IF you are pulling effluent with a peristaltic pump, that is something to consider.

I'm in a situation myself and after looking at quite a few I ran across an article at best and am currently adding kawlk to my ato as recommend by them and saveing space as well as money.im not sure if this is of interest or help to you but if you're needing a calcium boost as well as a kh this may be of interest. I'm having ph problem s as well and this does raise your pH so you do need to be careful.check it out if it sounds good for your situation. R

How are you able to determine that the Varios accounts for the gas. What should I be looking at?

Kalk alone can’t keep up with the demand

The effluent exhaust is on the lid and the pipe does not run from the top, that allows the excess co2 to be exhausted instead of constantly being pulled by the pump. But the GEO in the above picture, looks like it does the same thing.
