Hi everyone,,

I have reef octopus CR220-9 Calcium Reactor and 10 lb co2 tank With a carbon doser regulator. controlled by Neptune Apex
I'm not getting any bubbles, and PH in my reactor is shooting up 7.0 I had this running fine at 6.6-6.8 but than my aquacave regulator crap out so, I spend big bucks on this carbon doser, which has no bubble glass on it. but uses a LED light to blink instead .( so i use bubble glass in reactor )

If i open my effluent line than i get bubbles, But this also increases the KH which is not a good fix.
My co2 tank was just fill and gage left gauge is reading 1000 and right gauge is reading 10

I tried to bleed all lines, same problems,,,,, I turn off co2 open line, then connect back open co2 very slowly same problems.. H - E- L- p !!!

Sound like you still have some air in the line. What are you using to feed the reactor? My advice is give the reactor full flow and open the effluent line completely to de gas the line. Depending on setup, you may need to increase the pressure to the reactor past the gauge reading. For mine, I had to or I would not get any sir I'm my reactor. Slowly increase pressure until you get co2 pumping into the reactor. For me, I had to go past the markings a bit on my carbon dosed to get it to work.

Of course, once you degas, decrease the feed line and adjust effluent to the rate you want and let your apex set the target ph in the reactor. Test alk everyday until you get it dialed in.

Thanks.. But I had done all this , I was on the phone with Marine Depot , he said i have it all right just set it and wait for it to adjust on it own and then make final adjustments as needed,.. I had bleed the calcium line to make sure no air was in there . and also bleed the line right by the check valve between Regulator and calcium reactor, I have a manifold off of my Blueline HD70 return pump feeding the calcium reactor.
,thank you for you reply

Have you tried increasing the output pressure to 15 psi instead of 10?
If you only get bubbles with the water output open, then you may not have enough pressure to put in CO2 when the output is closed down. You have to compensate for the check valve, plus the internal pressure of the system.

hi I took a step back last night . disconnect everything and took step by step and Today i have it running correctly .. thanks for your help

I had the same problem with my carbon doser and calcium reactor. It turned out to be the carbon doser that was the problem. If I turned the carbon doser all the way down it would dispense co2 but if I set it to a normal speed I wouldn't get anything. I would return the regulator.

thanks turn out to be a bad check valve
