Ok this has got to have been discussed (just can't find it). Where is a "likely" point where CaRx plus trace dosing become more cost-effective than 2-Part (really 3-part with trace) dosing.

Currently running B-Ionic on frag system and CaRx on display (200dd). I'm not against either methodology though I have CaRx'ed for almost 15 years. Just thinking a good 2-Part with trace may be easier. I used B-Ionic on a previous 90gal display with good results. I have the doser pump space on the frag doser so moving to B-Ionic on the display is not much more than tubing and a couple of check valves for safety.

I understand the theory well-enough (ok maybe ) but looking at the alternate practices of others.

What sayeth the brain trust? So hit me back with your practice and why you like it (no flame wars please!).

I run a carx on my 120.
I dose esv 2 part on my frag system.
Trace on both as I do not do scheduled water changes.
I will one day set up a carx on my frag system but the demamd is not their yet.
I only dose 7ml of each once daily to maintain 7 dkh and its 1 year old now.
I setup my carx when I got close to 50ml of the 2 part on the 120.
For me the Carx is very simple to run as I run no ph probe or controller.
I also run manmade media instead of coral bones.

Which trace method/program?

I run DSR ez-trace and carbon.
The trace keeps mag and K at 1350 and 420 respectively.
It has a few other elements including iodine.
I dose esv strontium once a week to keep it 8-10.
I only dose 6ml of trace daily.
I only dose ez carbon to feed the bacteria and corals. It is a blend of vinegar, sugar, and iron.
Big 3:
Alk 7-7.5
Ca 420-450
Mag 1300-1350
Po4 .02-.08
No3 5-10
