Calcium reactor vs dosing pump

Hey fellow reefers just idea been jumping around my brain. Which would be better a calcium reactor or dosing pump with calcium supplement? I wouldn’t mind ether but just wanted know from people personal experience with ether one? I think I rather calcium reactor maybe? Since pumps sometime can mess up and OD your tank I’ve heard depending on pump. But just wanted dknos people personal opinions and which think might be better!

I have used both and they both work well.
I run a carx on my 120.
Very stable and simple to setup. Do some research before commiting.
A good new carx setup is around $1000 but well worth it if you take the time to understand whats going on in your tank.

Here is my setup. No controler or ph meter.
Tunze 3171 carx.
ADA 2 stage regulator.
10lb tank.
I run Tunze media
and drip into a small cylinder of coral bones.
The last is not needed but I had it and used it.

My tank only 57 would be little bit of over kill haha, but looks amazing.

I have a calcuim reactor on my 40 gallon frag tank. Stability is the way to go. I could have used dosing as well, but i personally like calc reactors. Some people prefer dosing on smaller tanks and go to calc reactors on bigher tanks. Just go with what you are most familiar with and comfortable.

I'll preface this by saying if properly setup, either approach is very unlikely to fail but it does happen.

That said, I would argue that dosing is less likely to fail than many carx setups because carxs have more ways they can fail, many people use peristaltic pumps with calcium reactors too. I've seen those pumps fail, I've seen cheap co2 regs fail crashing tanks, more to clog, ect.

Watch a BRS video. If you have huge demand use a carx, personally I prefer dosing. Don't want ionic imbalance? Use something like b ionic, dont want to have to adjust salinity now and then - use diy all-for-reef and kalk.
