I have a 220g DT with about 300g total volume. I’m looking to buy a calcium reactor because dosing isn’t cost efficient anymore.
Does the brand matter? Can anybody give me some info on what to look for in a calcium reactor? There’s so many out there.
I’m not looking to take out a small loan for one... but I want something that’ll work.

Thanks in advance

I'm sure you'll get plenty of recommendations for GEO as they are well built and proven. For me, space was an issue so I went with an Aquamaxx reactor because you have the ability to place the circulation pump in a spot that best suits your needs. Overall, I'm very happy with my AM reactor.

Along with a quality reactor, you're going to need a quality regulator, solenoid and needle valve. Having those items will help make life a lot easier when trying to dial in the reactor. A lot of people use the Carbon Doser reg with great success but I decided to build my own following the Alan Le model and I'm happy I did.

I guess it depends on how you define 'a small loan'. GEO do seem to be the most common choice, though there are other excellent options like Avast or MTC. People tend to recommend what they use, so I'll extol the virtues of the MTC ProCal since I've been running it for 20 years (though I did have to replace the circulation pump after 10). Build quality is hard to beat LOL.

I am in the market for a new Calcium reactor for my new SCA 150 Build. I have narrowed it
down to the following 4 reactors and i would love to hear your thoughts and opinions
especially have you one of these reactors running on your display currently and maybe share some pictures of how you have your set up!!

I will be also buying the Carbondoser electronic CO2 reg w/ John Guest fitting as well for what ever reactor i decide to go with.

I think that a big consideration is the circulating pumps I have read that the Sicce pumps leak. So maybe one with the Eheim or the I am sorry (not sure of the brand yellow)but the Iwaki type pumps.
