Calcium Reactor

My Geo Calcium reactor is on a shelf next to my tank. It's growing Algae inside all over the Media. Is this a problem, I was thinking of cutting a black garbage bag and covering the outside to eliminate the light getting into the reactor.

Cover it up. Its not horrible but that algea is consuming some of the co2 you are paying for and raising the ph in the reactor which is obvoiusly counter productive.

Ok. I didn't realize the Algae would use the co2 but that makes sense. I was surprised that it likes the low PH
