Calcium Reactors and Depressed pH

From 1-10 the carbon doser tunes like a dream.

From 0.9 to 0.1 it is very sensitive. You have to sweet talk it sir. ;) :D

This is where I’m at. Err it won't let the video upload/play.

You can install a CO2 scrubber on the air inlet on your protein skimmer that will help increase your Ph

Interesting. My large CaRx has very little bearing on tank pH. It’s dwarfed in its affect by all the human breathers that live in my house. With CaRx tank gets down to about 7.8 at night .... without CaRx ..... 7.8 lol. Daytime high is 8.1 regardless. Fresh airline or scrubber on skimmer isn’t effective for me, though once the weather moderates an open window helps a lot.

@ca1ore I think I've concluded that it's only because I recently set it up. There were a lot of bubbles initially, but not most are gone. I let it run for 24 hrs before injecting CO2, but if I did it again I might let it run 48hrs or more.

I think if you have a steady tune like I have now (CO2 at constant flow w/o controller intervention) then it appears to be fine. Tank is only 1 year old and I live in a small 1 bedroom 700sf apartment so that has to drive down my pH. Thanks for chiming in man. I know you've been in the game a long time. Makes me feel better knowing it won't affect it too much.

I believe he is in Florida now

Ohh OK. I looked at moving to Florida and a few friends that live there say people come and go like crazy. The wages are low for most people, but it’s such a beautiful place I really considered it. I hope he survives down there.

6.88 or 6.89 does not tell us anything. What is the dKh of the effluent? You might be better off running at 6.6, getting more concentrated output and using 1/3 the effluent.. hard to tell without knowing the effluent of the dKh. pH in the chamber means nothing.

Running a CaRx, or not, does not move my tank pH either. ...now I live in Colorado where we have windows open even in the winter and have not checked it in years, but it the lat time that I did, the morning pH was above 8.

I'm curious what Alkalinity you run your system at.
