right now i have a calcium reator and thinking of going with 2 part. what one would you say is the best way to go.

A calcium reactor, when properly adjusted and with a pH controller is easier as you don't have to remember to do much. It also has very small calcium and magnesium fluctuations, which is good for the coral. I vote for the reactor.

I've always liked 2 part because it's easy of use and you can make small adjustments with your dosing. Downside is it's not as cheap as the reactor in the long term.

After owning a calcium reactor I could not imagine going back to dosing, its two steps backwards. Once a reactor is dialed in its almost set it and forget it, plug and play. The time taken up front to dial it in correctly pays off in the end.

i guess i need to get mine set up properly. it dosent want to keep my alk where i want it. i set before with someone telling me what to do but it guess it wasnt set right... now looking online i found how to set it up and it should help me get it dialed in. just going to take a few days to get it set.

thank you everyone.

what size tank is it? I would say at about 90g. Heavily stocked a CA reactor is the way to go. Maybe less. But for most light to medoim stock up to 125g a 2 part is great. it just get more costly if you have a heavy load. And start up is more costly for a CA reactor.

CA reactors are great for sure. Just make sure you get a good sol valve setup. like reef fanatic or the one from aquarium plants.

I know from my past experience. The Geo reactors are great, The ATB line is good, and the AquaC rx. Make sure you have a large opening for adding media. A good pump too. I had a ATB and it was very good. I know the most popular is the Geo. Anyway you go you will be happy.

i have a 180 and i think i have a medium stocked tank. i have have a good gauge and sol valve. only issue is just need to dial it in. these are the directions i have found that help.

I'm using a Profilix doser on my 150 that is pretty well stocked. I use the BRS calcium, alk, and Mag. I love it and i hardly have to do much adjustments on it at all. I have been using it for close to a year now and wouldn't think about changing it. I will say that i never did try the reactor. I thought about it but was a little unsure of how to get it set right. I was also a little scared to have the CO2 in my living room with my tank.. My little ones get into everything..

+1...trying sticking with the CalRx and get it dialed in. It's been two years now for me and can't see going back to dosing. Albeit, I have a heavily stock sps and building a new 60gl Cube with LPS and will being dosing on that tank because of the low demand corals, etc.

63vette427, how much Alk and when are you dosing it on your 150 gallon?
I dose 3ml 18 times per day. That holds it right at about 9.3-9.6 dkh..

I have only a few SPS. Mostly my tan has LPS and softies. A ton of them granted..

I run a reactor to set it and forget it, doser to do the micro adjustments if needed.

Cannot go wrong with either, you can only go wrong if you don't get either.
