Calcium too high and wont come down

Im looking for some input here. My calcium has been at 540 for 2 weeks straight and i havent dosed any calcium. I have continued to dose alkalinity and that is at a stable 8.6. What can i do to lower my calcium and is it a problem that its up that high. No corals seem to have been affected yet. My test kits are salifert.

What salt brand are you using? Coralife?

Are you dosing anything at all? What's your salinity?

Is the calcium in the newly mixed saltwater that high? What are you using to test calcium?

Salinity? What do you test it with? Is it calibrated?

I agree, check the test kit against another from a LFS or friend. If it does confirm the reading, mix up 5 gallons of your salt mix and test it. Provided that test of the fresh mix comes out good, I would do a large water change on the tank to drop the Ca level. (Not a HUGE priority though.)

I don't know how big your tank is but if you add a teaspoon or so of baking soda (55g tank) I think you will notice a drop in calcium the next day.
