My calcium level is consistently over 500 and I have tried many 30% water changes and is still over 500. How do I get it down to 450 and keep it there? Does lowering salinity help keep calcium low?
Thank you

Do you know the calcium level of your replacement water from the salt you are using? Different salt mixes will have less or more calcium. Perhaps try a salt with lowered added calcium:

TROPIC MARIN USA
  • Classic: Ca: 370-390 ppm, Mg: 1250-1300 ppm, Alk: 9-10 dKH.
Also are you dosing calcium e.g. kalkwaser etc?

It's certainly wise to check your salinity is correct first.

Great point. I think that if (all things being equal), one increases Salinity by 1ppt, it will lead to a Ca level increase of 11 or 12. Taking that from memory so please correct me if I'm wrong.....

If you happen to be using the Hanna for your CA, it always reads high.

500ppm ain’t dangerous IMM.
At what percentage.give or take? Just curious. I'd already planned on not using Hanna for this parameter.......Heard whisperings of inaccuracies
