I am working on setting up a Deltec Twin Tech CaRx and I am looking to calculate the initial flow rate for the effluent.

I currently dose 2 dKh per day to my tank which has a net volume of around 820 litres.

The reactor works on the total CO2 saturation, thus from my understanding the dKh output should be fixed and you just adjust the flow to the tank to control the tanks dKh. I am estimating the reactors dKh output to be 45dKh.

How do I calculate the starting effluent volume per day? (If possible with the workings too so I can follow it through)

Many thanks

51.2ml/min

Hope it helps and fwiw your effluent is excessively high in dkh, perhaps aim for 24dkh instead.

Sorry it’s a little wrong the figure.

So 2dkh/45dk * 820 = 36.444 litres per day through calcium reactor

Broken down further into milliliters per minute give you 25.3ml/min

Thank you, I was guessing the dKh of the effluent to see if it was worth starting the reactor up. I think the effluent is probably a little lower than that, as you say, but it gives me a starting point as to if it will work for me or not yet. The reactor will deliver a minimum of 10 ltrs a day so it looks like even if it was at 45 it would still work out ok, a lower value would give a higher throughput.

My reactor is a Deltec Twin Tech and works on the Co2 saturation principle so the Kh is pretty high. It turned out to be 49dKh !

Wow that is high, off the top of my head adjust it to around 23ml/min

I am amazed your media isn’t complete mush but I live and learn :) another good lesson

I see these threads online from time to time about this reactor. Is it available in the states, is anyone on here using one?
