I got the inkbire ITC-306A and when i put it on the tank i noticed it was reading 80.7 even though my other 2 thermometers where reading 78-77.6. So i decided to do the ice cup trick to check the proves and infact the inkbird was reading 34 when it should read 32 exactly. I heard that is a good way to test it, has anyone else done that aswell?

If you are using ice cubes and water 34 degrees is about right. Grind the ice in a blender- what you have to make is called a slurry; which is basically slush. 3 parts crushed ice to 1 part water. Let it sit for a couple of minutes. But even that often reads higher than 32F.

Interesting i always heard of jist stirring the icecubes in the water and after 3 minutes stirr again and put the thermometer in.

Also i just checked with 2 thermometers and the inkbird and this is what i got so i guess the one on the low end is wrong. I did the crushed ice with water on the one that is showing 74.7 and indeed it seems off, its showing 28.7-28.2 on the ice cup.

Also checked with a glass thermometer and got 80. I guess i can leave it like that since the difference wont really matter.

I'm familiar with the procedure due to working in pro kitchens. If you think about it, you rarely get a"Brain freeze" from a soda with ice, but it almost always happens with a 'slushie' or 'Icee' (At least for me...)
