California Coralline? Cold water Coralline algae?

Hey all. I was at the beach today and saw some brilliant pink coralline on a piece of rock that had drifted up attached to a kelp holdfast. I half considered scraping some off and putting it in my new tank to seed it with coralline. I just wondered if the cold water coralline would even grow? Has anyone tried this? Keep in mind I am not doing this or suggesting it since it's probably illegal collection or something like that, but am just wondering.

I think the brilliant pink or orange colors are just there for a week as it dies. I notice along the growing edges of sps it kills the coralline and turns it pink. I also get the best colors on my vegi-clip that I keep taking out of the water.

I believe it would help to seed that new tank with some scrapings. I just wouldn’t expect the brillian pink color.
