There comes a time in ones life when one needs change. I have been in the game since I was 9yrs old (23 now) and did NanoCubes (6g, 8g, 12g, 24g, 29g) a majority of the time. Last Christmas my wife gave me the option of getting rid of 4 cubes and get a 120g. Who wouldn't do that!? I jumped on it. After I set that up I realized I do enjoy just the view of a reef, but what I really enjoyed was the growing of my reef. After fully stocking my 120g I was bored due to running out of room... It was time for the change.

I spoke with my wife and she agreed to letting me get a coral flat where I could just cut coral up, glue them to rocks. Its fun! So why not do it in mass?

This is the story of the breakdown of my 120g reef into my 110g coral flat.

I plan on posting ALOT of photos.

I hope you enjoy, and hope to learn something from anyone's suggestions and comments.

Here is a little background on the new setup.

I did a custom order through one of the sites sponsors - Aqua Life Aquariums. My favorite LFS. They did an awesome job!

It's a 48"x41"x14" tank with duel overflow. Resting on a custom metal stand.

On thing that really irritated me with my 120g was the room under it. I could never work in the sump. So I did it right this time and the stand is 36" high with composite wood flooring.

Brand new eShopps r300 refuge sump. Still unsure what all to put in it. Suggestions? I have two mangroves, giant thing of chaeto.

Currently running a eshopps cone skimmer. Waiting on a reef octopus slim 150. Eshopps keeps overflowing at night... Yet no where close during the day.
