calling all 300 dd tank owners

I am considering a 300 gallon dd tank. I would like opinions from those who have one. How hard is it to maintain this tank? Seems as if it will be a real chore to reach the back of the tank. Do you have lighting hoods on yours or suspended lighting? I have ugly diy leds so I would have to have a hood if I would get one which would make it even harder to get to the back of the tank. I currently have a 180 and like the length but think I would enjoy a deeper front to back tank.

Only thing I've heard of is failures with the dd line, but that depends on the stand. Just saw one up on our local forums, a 250dd leaking. Enough failures to make me second guess it. Though a 250dd is my dream dimensions.

Your concern on not being able to reach the back is why I sold mine. No issues other than that, what fell in the back stayed there. 30" depth would of been much better. I ended up going to a standard 180 from Planet.

I have a 250 dd. Although tough to reach the back I absolutely love the depth. I like the options it gives me to aquascape. I do use a grabber I picked up from harbor freight. I will recommend using a scraper like the tunze to maintain glass. Makes it much easier

I would stay away from marine land's larger tanks. There is an ad on craigslist now for a marineland 265 gallon that is leaking. I am looking at customaquariums.com

We have a 250 dd with a custom metal frame and love it. It has only soft coral since we have several angels, tangs, trigger and tusk. So no worries on anything falling and we don't clean our back glass.

Just had one blow. No leaks, cross braces broke at the same time. Needless to say woke up to a blown tank, dead fish and a horrible smell... Thank goodness for my dog. Could've been worse. Now I have to try to find a receipt for a tank that I purchased in 2010. Store is out of business. I understand Marineland has to cover their butts, but come on... I didn't know I was going to get audited by Marineland!!!!

So the tank was 9 years old? I understand tanks made after 2015 had some improvements made.
One is the bottom silicone was changed from black to clear for strength. Also they are allowing a much longer cure time in the factory.
