A couple months ago.
I was just stopping by my LFS, when one of the employees mentioned they had just received one. And also pointed out that it was eating pellets. $250 was a hefty price for me. But as soon as I seen him eat, I knew he was coming home with me.
I quarantined for two weeks and then placed him in my display. He only ate pellets and only pellets. But then after watching my other tangs eat seaweed, it started to eat it as well.
Now I've had him for around 6 months. And he recently just started eating frozen food. Before, it wouldn't even go near it. It was the craziest thing. Anyway, now I've got him eating out of my hand [emoji51]
He's definitely my prized fish.

Awesome! I love that last pic!

Mine won't do that yet but he close (the bicolar rabbit bullies his way to eating put of my hand instead).

PS, mine was 150 and has eaten pellets, frozen and nori since day one. Took him a couple weels to work things out with tank mates but over all everything has been good, especially since rhe blue throat trigger went carpet surfing pn thanksgiving day

Buy a small one that is adult enough to have a full teardrop. I don't know why but I've had the best luck with these and Achilles no larger than 4.5"

True juveniles (regardless of size if they don't have a true teardrop) are more difficult.
I got a juvenile one with no teardrop from liveaquaria last year. I was concerned it wouldn't develop a teardrop lol... But it eventually grew pretty quick and has a nice medium sized teardrop and is now the Bully of the tank. He's always chasing my PBT and lavendar tangs around during nori feeding.

Acanthurus are pretty temperamental little things! Lol
