Calling all bare bottom tank owners for your help.

I agree with big E.
I set up my current system which is currently at about 700g ,(will be 1200gal soon) with dead rock I soaked in a 300g tote for bout a year. I kept it covered but outside, with a return pump for circulation. I dosed bacteria weekly, ghost fed weekly and added pods monthly.
A combo of microbactor
Reefbrite liverock enhance
And Dr Tim's.
A week after filling my 400g I fragged everything in my 270 and put them in. All lived but later I found I was running my lights way to strong, so had stunted growth. Now that I turned them down to 300 par on the bottom things are starting to take off!

Sorry, that was a typo.........it should say" it had nothing to do with the bare bottom." He was blaming the dead rock BB combo.

I've set up Bare bottom tanks with a small piece of live rock and clean dead rock and had acros in them in a week with some fish. You need to have some fish in there so the nutrients aren't zero.

There is a specific process involved........I'd be happy to walk anyone through this, just send me a pm.

I might take you up on that. I'm setting up a 180 soon and seriously considering BB.

My 3.5yo BB tank and also BB sump. All dead rock too with 100% peroxide for 6 weeks. I make sure everything is cured haha. Lay a good foundation first with biodiversity then start from there. Self discipline and plan it well and you’ll achieved your goal
