Recently I decided to get rid of all the sand in my tank and went bare bottom, because of my frustration with red slime algae. That really help taming my phosphate level; However, I started to notice that corals don't quite pop any more because of the dull background. Just wondering if any one with a bare bottom tank had a solution to this problem. Thank you.

With bare bottom tanks you really have to pay attention to nutrient levels. Tanks become very clean and will start to pale out the corals. I have to feed my fish 3 to 4 times a day or more in order to keep colors in my sps.

I am running BB right now while I set up the new tank and guess what I just had to get rid of? A bad Cyano outbreak!
