Just earlier today, I put a hold on a fish I've wanted for a long time, a Colin's Angelfish. Now I've heard they are difficult to care for from several sources, I would like to hear more about people's success stories with them and what they did to achieve that success. I originally wanted a pair but I figured I should test my luck with one first and see if I can even keep that. Please share your info below!

Sensitive centropyge generally require proper quarantine methods and high nutrition. They like to dart in and out of structures, so a tank with this ability is recommended. Live blackworms, live brine, and sometimes even clams on a half shell are common “cheat” foods I keep on hand for picky eaters.

Centropyge right now in the distribution system are coming in with a lot of uronema, so ensure to treat them with metroplex in QT.

I have a qt that is being coppered since it has a blue tang who hasn't eaten in a month (I can't figure out what's wrong) and a desjaardini that's eating like a champ. I also have a frag tank that I'm probably gonna take down once I upgrade to a larger frag tank(the current frag tank is empty, it only has some aiptasias in it). Would you put the Angel straight into the qt or hold it in the frag tank until I can get it into proper qt?

I’d hate to start the clock on the other fish in your QT. Some centropyge are copper sensitive so introducing them to therapeutic copper isn’t advisable, best to start at 1PPM and increase to 2PPM over 48 hours or so.

Fish that don’t eat in copper could be reacting to levels of copper that are too high, or they could be sick or sensitive to copper.

What kind of copper are you using? How are you testing if?

You aren’t using prime or amquel for ammonia, I hope. (It’s toxic with copper)

Ammonia in quarantine is a big issue, one i solve with a HOB filter with a “sponge” added and the carbon removed with the magic Biospira added for good Biospira that convert ammonia.

I actually started the copper dosage yesterday, I've tried different medications as the blue tang never at when in qt. I started off with a prazi treatment, then after that I tried metro and cupramine (I later learned that people don't like cupramine that much anymore, I haven't been buying fish much in the last two years), then it seemed like the qt restarted cause I had a bunch of ammonia. I took the medication out of the tank and left it alone, rn it has a little bit of nitrite and no ammonia. I dosed copper power yesterday at a starting dosage of 1ml per gallon. I don't think it's the copper causing problems as it was having problems before I tried copper

Also to clarify, the tank was previously cycled but something went wrong when I was dosing medications and it crashed, it's almost back to normal but from what I've read, nitrite isn't really all that toxic in saltwater so I don't think that's an issue.
