Grab a B&h Photo catalogue. Most all of them are DMX or network ready. There's bigger more powerful ones too. Get the hybrids though. You can set them to go from 18k to 9000k if you want a better sun up to sun down reproduction.

There are FW fixtures that are pretty close. The Kessil A160 isn't too far off on it's warmest setting. Just have to put it on a track that moves during the say like the sun does.

Are corals sitting in a foot of water in real life? I thought most were much lower and therefore getting a much different spectrum.

It all depends on the corals. Some corals live deep enough for there to be very little light. Other corals live in tidal zones where they may not even be covered with water for part of the day when tides are extreme.

Exactly, so we should try to be mimicing wavelengths at the depths where the corals we keep naturally reside, not just at one specific kelvin rating since our tanks aren't 5-30 meters deep.

I wouldn't exactly say that we "should be".... I mean there is nothing natural about a coral reef in a living room. If you prefer 5k light that is awesome, but clearly many people are successful with a wide variety of lighting. 20 or 30 years ago 5-8, was all there was in the hobby! Pick whatever color of lighting you like and have fun. Most the high end manufactures have FW versions of their lights. Just use one of those, I only said kessil as it is very concentrated for the ripple lines.

LED's are inexpensive. Programming moving glitters lines is possible. Laser light is inexpensive.
We have the technology.

Hsu hang it high. Lol. Bottom like is there is not much market for that color of light. I thought Kessil makes one that simulates the sun

I think if you guys saw sunlight on your aquariums you would change your minds about the blue halloween lighting we are using now. I'm not so sure about the full lighting spectrum of some of the led light out now. Do they have the lower blue in them as sunlight does?
At certain times of the year the sunlight hits my tank and the fish and coral colors are amazing. I mean really amazing colors.
