Share your schedules and success rates.

I have been running 2 Radions XR30 non pro on my 75g I switched from Maxspect razor about 4 months ago and my Acros have been struggling. Please share your schedule, brightness and overal intensity also how deep is the tank and how far from the water line are you running your lights.

I revert back to 80% brightness from 100% which gives me about 51% overal intesity 9” of the water line in a 21” deep tank with the AB+ schedule but I’m still bleaching acros montis and and everything else seems good.

But please share your schedules, Brightness and intensity and if your are running a specific pre made schedule. And how deep is your tank and how high from the water line are the lights.

Here's mine, on a standard 6ft 125 gallon dual overflow mounted on the RMS Long Rail. I'm new so no long term results yet but my frags seem to be encrusting well so far:

Thank you fellow reefers I’m sure a collection of information on actual users and these schedules, intensity and light height can help a lot of new Radion users out there, yeah there is a lot of information online but everything is so confusing when I read people say I run mine at 100% and don’t specified what percent do they mean brightness or intensity? What schedule? How high from the bottom is the lights? The recent post about growing sps under low pars made me think that probably I’m burning some of my SPS but want to hear more successful reefers input into this. The biggest con these lights have yes it’s a con it’s controllability it’s just too much sometimes basics work but when you are presented with choices and your like me you will hit a wall im bad at making decisions when I have options because I want to make the perfect decision lol.

I'm a big fan of the AB+ program. You can keep a large variety of things in this spectrum.

You'll want a par meter to measure the par levels of the areas you want to put stuff. Before swapping lights, it's best to measure the par levels of where everything was at before and then just create those same par levels with the new lights. The large variance in intensity and height is because everyone has different par levels they are targeting. Intensity and and height should be used to achieve the preferred par level. There really isn't a preferred height or intensity.

I don’t have a par meter, almost bought one but I’m sure that will be a waste of money if I only use it once or twice and lfs don’t carry them.

Are you currently running Radions ? If so what are your specs ? If you don’t mind sharing

I just noticed you don’t use the warm white or the violet, which I believe are the difference between the pro and non pro, so it makes me wonder why are peopling opting for the pros if they are Running them on fairly shallow tanks 24” or less ? There’s barely any info on the non pro version of these lights but my friend convinced me since he doesn’t like the warm white look neither and doesn’t run them neither

I’m running the AB+ on my 29g biocube. My overall intensity is 69%.

I’ve got awesome growth on most corals and especially good on montiporas and chalices.

If your bleaching SPS I wonder if you have the white channel up high. The white channel is the one that will fry corals.

I have (2)XR30's Pro 3 no diffusers, no wide-angle. modified AB+ . I am thinking of getting wide-angle, tank is 44"x 26"x 24".

I did raise the white to 35% instead the of the 24% SPS AB+ probably had something to do, I think I really underestimated the power of these lights I assumed that since the pro packed more punch raising the white would give me just a bit extra par for my acros

How long you have been running these settings ?

Hello,

I will note that I do not have radions, but I have done lots of experiments with them. Probably one of your biggest problems is the fact you went from one led to another. Now I promise not to bore one, but as far a recent example, I have always used the marine current pros (non ic loop ones lol) and my corals and clams do amazing in my 240 and it’s 34 inches tall. They are strip lights so I had less shadow problems but I added a third light, (same as the other two and found the critical angel and sin/cosine of the angle for the best coverage). I decreased the other lights by 33% because I’m simple math I have two lights each at 50 50x2 equals 100, so 3 lights by 33x3 is 99 (you get the idea right). Well in reality it doesn’t work quite that way. You probably have more focused lens in the radions, and more leds per puck. (Not certain haven’t done much on your old ones), but depending on which lens they have it’s more focused or hotter.

In his case it will explain why he is bleaching corals. When I added my third light it severely upset my tank and even had it in acclimation mode. Another good example would be if someone from far north Alaska decoded to move to Phoenix AZ, the poor person is gonna cook even with a/c on. I highly suggest he turn the lights way down maybe even half where they are at now. Corals are living animals as we mostly know, they are light and temp sensitive.

Sincerely
Sarah

Thanks on the tip, I lowered them to 50% from 70% overal Intensity just waiting to see how my corals react it’s been a few days, my previous lights were Maxspect razor the 42” model which had 6 pucks so they had better spread I was also running them at 100% both Channels white and Blue for 9hours, I have a Maxima clam on my sand bed so with the Radions I wanted to make sure my clam was good but strangely only my acros are bleaching my Montis zoas, mushrooms hammers are doing good and my slimmer acro is the only one doing fine, my torch retracted and I suspected it was the lights but my acros were doing fine at the time.

I run 14k for 4 hrs and then 18k for 4hrs at 75%

Tank is 29 tall and about 9inches off water

I have 4 gen4pros and 1 xr15 and none of my acros are bleaching and are looking pretty good!

I run the AB + at 50 % but I’m going to add an extra hour of blue for my viewing pleasure

about 6 -8 months. I had a clam and it did great. recently had issues in the tank and i leached phosphates and nitrates to 0 and didnt even realize and lost some sps and my clam. But the Radions have done great.

Im running two G3 Pros and one G4 Pro... Here is my current schedule and my par reading at 9” off the water... tank is 22” tall, but I have a 3-4” sandbed with ALOT of rock as well

I began at 57% intensity, but Ive bumped it up 2.5% every two weeks since a month ago... I made the 2.5% jump then observed everything for two weeks then made another bump... I am now at 62%... Here are my par levels;

I know its sloppy, but it will give you numbers... Im also running t5 fixture as well though... t5s are on for 8 1/2 hours... 2B+ and 2C+ really looked like things started to look healthier once the t5s were added... pretty sure you’ve heard this already... so thats not gonna help you out much... just wanted to give you some numbers... Everything is growing very well so far... Hope you get something out of this... hahahahahha!!!

I lowered it to 50% intensity 75% brightness and everything seems ok so far but it’s only been a few days, I hate I keep messing with the settings I just feel uneasy when I sea bleach especially if it’s happening every morning in a new piece but I has been a few days

Thanks on the info definitely helps I’m sure a few will find this info useful since I know most don’t have access to a par meter and most post on these lights are old and some a bit confusing actual numbers on a post can help the blind.also If the deal goes through I will be getting 4 T5s hybrid from AquaticLife tomorrow def will use your info for reference.
