Should I cut back on lighting? Do more or bigger water changes? I just don't want it to get out of control...
I am also a let it ride guy.
Just chill, don't go nuts, don't overthink it.
No water changes take everything slowly.
Build up some flora/yuck/stuff in the tank and things will work out.
Slime algae/cyno is from low nutrients/unbalanced nutrients.
Just my thoughts. :)

Regular maintenance, regular everything let the water change ride for a bit.
You can always pull the rocks and rinse them in some saltwater, scrub etc if it bugs you.
Just natural process happening.

you could scrub it off with a toothbrush prior to the next time you are doing a water change, it might help it not spread and you'll be removing anything that's floating around.
I will do that if it gets much worse than what it is now. I'm hoping my urchin eats enough to keep it from getting to be too much.
