Calothrix triumphs

Just curious, to you have an egg crate in the tank?

Just a small piece used for a diy upflow algae scrubber backing. It hasn't been in the system long (under 2 months) and I've battled this junk for a year. I started h2o2 today so we'll see if it helps

Oh snap!

I am sorry I do not know anyone that was able use a treatment successfully, basically it had to burn it's self out.

With Calothrix I have often wondered what feeds it. Some have suggested perhaps something given off by egg crate hence the reason for my question.

Good luck with the hydrogen peroxide, I would be interested to see the results.

Copy that. Gonna start my doses (dosed 25mL. 240 dt, 55 Sump half full) with the lights on then by Sunday kick the lights. I just bumped the h2o2 thread too with pics.

Imo, h2o2 is a great aid in the battle against most algae. I've got a local trying it on bubble and hair. If it was the eggcrate or not, I'm not sure. My biggest success was adding a huge fuge with grape and feather calupera.

Between dosing the h2o2 and adding the fuge, I won. It also didn't help my sb was a HUGE contribute as it was holding a ton of junk. When I broke the tank down a removed the remaining sand, the water turned almost black. I just don't have luck with a sb where others do. Good luck and hope this helps.

I like dosing h2o2 because of the ease. Do you have room for a fuge of decent size? My full intentions with my current/new build is getting my fuge ready for the load of fish. I'll have to read up on the invert and h2o2 dosing, I dosed with clams, snails and nems but no shrimp. No losses that I can speak of.
