So I am finally going to break down and spend the money on a camera and not coral, after over 1,000 pics in my Iphone I think it's time. The only problem is I know nothing about cameras and don't know what one I should go with. I have between $700 AND $1000 so I think I should be able to get a nice one. So any sugestions on how I should spend the cash? I have a friend that works at Best Buy and I can use his disscount but Im open for better ideas to find one somewhere else.

I would get like and older Rebel XT or XSI and then get a 100mm Canon Macro to go with it! Pay less for the camera and more for the lens. I am using an XT and 100mm combo. :D

Thanks Rev!! I was talking to Karylen last night and he said he would go with the new Rebel and the 100mm Macro, so I think I am going to go with a Rebel, whats the difference between the XT and the XSI? Also do you think Best Buys is a good place to buy from?

Any one else with any advise? I am totally clueless on cameras. Any advise will help.

Well the XT is just older so it would be less expensive. If you can get a newer XSI or something I would do that. Just make sure you get a nice lens. Almost 100% of these were taken with the XT and 100mm Macro.

I just picked up a Canon T1i, love it so far. Still gotta grab the macro lens but I found the body w/ the basic lens for $599 at Fry's.

OK thanks Rev, those are really nice pics you got I love your scollys and acan collection. So basically the XSI is you way to go? I would rather spend the money now and get the best instead of buying it and wanting to replace it with something better later, I got O.C.D issues. Is there any name brand on the lens or certain one to get? and do they carry all of this at Best Buy or should I go somewhere else?

Well the best for your budget is what your looking for right? If you want the best then we need to up the ante!

What kind of lens are you going to go with? any pics yet?

I'm going to go with the 100mm macro.

Here's a pic with the standard lens under LED's so the color is pretty much spot on.

Lol your right I know you can get deep into your pockets buying a supper nice camera, I meant best for around my budget, but I'm willing to go a little over if it is worth it.

What LED's are you running? I just bought 5 bar's of Reef Bright LED's, and love them.

On this 40g I'm running 1 of the LED fixtures from Luke33. Upgrading to a 60g very soon and will be running 2 of the fixtures. They're pretty sick and keep the tank from heating up at all, hoping I can go without a chiller this summer.

Wow Canon has some good rebates going on. Found this 50D 15.1 Megapix for $1099 but it has a $500 rebate with it.

Canon | EOS 50D SLR Digital Camera (Camera Body) | 2807B006

Looks like these cameras qualify:

EOS 50D Camera
EOS 5D MARK II Camera
EOS 7D Camera
Rebel T1i Camera
Rebel T2i Camera

I think I am going to go with the Rebel T2i with a 100mm macro lens thanks Rev for the help.
