I am posting here because I only do zoanthids! Would like to hear what cameras people are using to get the great zoa pictures. Thanks in advance.

A quality DLSR, tripod and if you have the cash to spend - a Macro lens. the cost of all of this may sometimes exceed the cost of the tank...(doh).

Canon DSLR with the 100mm Canon Lens!

forgot to mention...if you want those top-down shots - a photo-box is nice...of if you wife lets you use a glass bowl/clear plastic bowl...

yeah rev - that combo is nice!

I use a Nikon D90.. I just got myself a great macro lens. I have to be honest that the quality is in the lens. They are very expensive though..

Canon 7D and Canon 100mm Macro. For Zoanthids, which are usually on the bottom, you'll definitely want a photo box. Avast Marine, a great Sponsor here on R2R, makes a really nice photo tube that "clamps" right to the lens. I love mine!

Couldn't you just use a waterproof camera or do they lack the picture quality? Thanks

I'm using a go pro camera which takes great shots and is meant to be dropped in water, on the floor, from anywhere.... Good little camera that's not to hard on the wallet and comes
With everything I like it at least ha

There are disposable waterproof cameras and some point and shoot waterproof cameras. None of these will produce the photo quality of a DSLR, which are NOT waterproof. There are waterproof housings for DSLR cameras but they are VERY expensive and add a lot to the size of the camera. Overall, there's no reason to use a waterproof camera to photograph our tank inhabitants as there's no need to put the camera in the water. Waterproof cameras are great for snorkeling or scuba, but unneeded for our tanks.
