Camera Thoughts/Advice

I'm currently looking for a camera to take pictures of my coral. I have beautiful chalices and acans with such great color but have no way to share them with the community as the best camera I currently have is my phone.lol My biggest problem is I really don't know what I'm looking for other than good pictures. Do I need a macro lense? I really don't want to spend a ton of money but I want something that is good and will last. Also, I have my first kid on the way, due in November, and my wife will let me get away with a little more right now. Hehehe Any advice on what to look for or suggestions on a good camera? MP? Anything will help me because as of right now, I'm clueless.

I have two cameras that I use for taking pictures of corals and fish. One is a Nikon D90 DSLR with a macro lens and the other is a waterproof Sony TX5 point and shoot. The DSLR takes better pictures overall, but it also takes a lot longer to setup. For quick pics, it is really nice just to take out the other one and snap a picture under the water.

So, the tx5, you literally stick it in the tank and shoot? Do you have any pics from that you could share?

Hey Daniel, I got the rebel xti + a macro lens used off of ebay for about 500 shipped. One you find a nice camera and lens to settle on, you can go to ebay and find some deals.

That's it. I couldn't believe how easy it was. I only got it last week and I like it so much that I just ordered the TX20. Here are some pics I took without any effort at all:
