looking for a good quality camera to take pictures of my corals with. i dont have a lot of money so my price limit would be 300$ and below.

My advice would be to keep an eye out on craigslist and ebay for a used nikon d3000-d5000 they are great at getting into DSLR and should be around that price range for used ones. I sold my D3000 in that range and it went with a lens and everything to get going. Good luck!

For $300 you will be limited but as Loki suggested I would keep an eye on cl and ebay for an introductory level dslr either Nikon or Cannon. Also I would keep an eye on the selling forums here from time to time I have seen a good deal on a camera come up. Until than I would also suggest if possible to continue to set money aside towards getting a camera.

I would advise you to get a camera that is a SLR or DSLR, meaning the lens is interchangable. The "D" means Digital.

The camera you listed could be a good camera but when it comes to really taking good photos I think the DSLR is where you need to be.

If you find a camera post it here and let people take a look at it. I am sure we could give you some advice on it. I am a nikon person, but canon and (the new) sony are both good brands.

yeah i have a nikon d3000 and love it interchangeable lens many picture options its digitial and takes some decent photos

Honestly, I would save up for a DSLR. This way you can't be kicking yourself in the butt when you are limited with your options.

What the differance between the lenses. And what one would I need. I'll be saving for a nikon d3000

You definitely need to go with a dslr so you can later find a good macro lens
