I am wondering what everyone uses for a camera. I just took some pics last night with my 5 megapixel Kodak and they always turn out like crap. Do you use a waterproof camera? I'm assuming some of you have some pretty snazzy cameras. My birthday is coming up

IMO if you want to get good pictures you need a DSLR camera. I try taking pictures with my Point and shoot and its hard. You need to take ALOT of pictures to get a few good ones. It can be done but its not easy!!! All of my pictures turn out really blue for some reason!! I am hoping to get a DSLR soon.

We have a canon xsi which i believe is about 12 megapixels. I love it and I really have no complaints about it at all. Maybe my only complaint is that shortly after we got it they released the T1i which takes HD video as well.

Ive only seen one person do underwater pics, so thats not needed.

I started getting better pics out of my point and shoot when I started using a stand, or tripod and also put the shutter on a timer so you can push the button and get away from the camera before it takes the pic. Your pics will come out more in focus when you do this, because theres no way you can hold the camera that steady.

Playin with the white balance helps too, but not too much or people can tell your messin with the lighting.

Cannon SD 790 IS 10MP, but I still take about 10 pics for every good one.

Don't show this to your wife if you want a DSLR for your birthday, because it will squelch the deal.

In fact, you can get decent shots with a point-and-shoot camera. The blue part is just a matter of setting a custom white balance (it's in the owners manual). Once you have that, a tripod and using the camera's timer to trip the shutter will get the job done. The face of the lens has to be parallel with the glass. Granted, the image quality will not be as good as you get with a DSLR and a good lens, but you can get more than usable shots.

This image of pipe organ coral was done with a Canon SD1100 IS point and shoot. The camera is about the size of a deck of cards. The shot is full frame. Camera was used in macro mode, exposure setting at -1, on a tripod.

I use the D80 with a standard 50 m lens and I use a 2" black PVC pip cut to about 6" long with a some acrylic glued to it. I am able to get nice shots. Now I want to get a better lens that let's more light in so I can get even better shots
