Can’t beat this cyano - is it something else?

Hey all,

First let me disclose that I have a BAD outbreak I’ve been dealing with. Pictures wouldn’t indicate it, as I removed as much as I could, but I’m trying to seek some guidance here with what I’ve assumed is a cyano outbreak. I ran 2 doses of chemiclean following the directions (right dosage, increased aeration, 20% water change) and while after the first dose I did notice a bit of improvement (it was breaking apart on a piece of the glass I didn’t scrape) the 2nd dose didn’t seem to do much of anything. I’m not sure if I should try to dose it again, or look to try something else. Any suggestions will be great!

Can you post a picture?
Not all strains of cyanobacteria will be taken down by chemiclean. I would definately do some research into using H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) to get rid of cyano.

Biodiversity is what will help you. Competition will put the cyno in it's place.

You can accomplish this many ways, but cured live rock is your best bet.

Maybe try a test for Dino’s. Take a coffee filter and run some water with the “cyano” in question through it into a glass. It should be a clear glass of water afterwards but if it resettles in a few minutes it is Dino’s.

Sorry all, this is very late response. Just didn't have time to get photos last night. Here's 2 photos. I didn't start this tank with any live rock, only live sand and dry rock (hitchhikers have traumatized me from past tanks).

Also, since doing the treatments, other than filter floss I don't have any sort of chemical filtration in. Should I re-add chemical filtration? (For reference I was using chemi-pure blue and a bag of purigen). Fluval evo 13.5
