Lost a fish the other day to ich and now i have to move all fish to hospital tank.. Well, I have my fish moved over except two I CANNOT catch, they’re too smart and fast. The dang engineering goby lives inside the rock work and will just barely pop his head out for food now because he’s caught on and I have a firefish that is literally faster than the speed of sound it seems lol. Should I go ahead and start the copper treatment for the rest of the fish in qt and add the others in once I can finally catch ‘em?

you can see the engineering goby just sitting there menacingly lol

I am 10 for 10 with fish trap

That is an amazing success rate!
No technique- I simply bait it with food and leave it open allowing fish to go in and eat and get comfy.
Day 3 I let the door down and trapped !!

I’ll get one of those come pay day, the engineering goby is in bad shape though, has a film covering his body and is probably stressed from me trying to catch him, hope he doesn’t die in between the rocks

Trap may not work if fish are sick and or stressed and not eating. I had a velvet outbreak a few weeks back. I ended up pulling all of the rock to catch the remaining fish. Fun stuff since one tank is 150 gal and the other 180 gal. They share a sump so I had to pull fish from both. I'm using the fallow period to redo my rock scape.

I had a trap like that too. Worked for almost all my fish. Just one not so much. Good luck. I know this is hard!

I take the chance to do a massive water change, slowly taking water out leaving just enough water for fish to breathe.

If they're not too dumb/stressed out they will come out of the rock.

I had success making a traps out of plastic bottles. Cut the top tapered end you drink from off flip over and stick back in to the cylinder part so you have a funnel that points in. Put food / bait in and wait. Have used to catch a six line wrasse once and a neon dottyback numerous times when escaped in to back area of AIO. Advantage is it’s free and can be made in under a minute. Use similar idea just bigger for catching bait fish in a bay or estuary.
