Can’t get zoas to open.

I got some dragon ball zoas recently along with a frag/small colony of god of armor zoas and the dragon balls just don’t want to open up. The god of armors couldn’t be happier. I did a peroxide dip on them and an unnamed zoa frag because neither want to do anything and they had a lot of hairy stuff on em. Frag plugs are pristine but they are still closed up. Any ideas?


do you guys think it could be a location thing? I got another one I want to dip but not if it’s going to keep the frags like this.

This plug is 50-50 some opened some half opened some not. Kinda confused.

Sometimes zoas/palys will close up and stay closed temporarily (days or even weeks IME) due to stress (movement, dipping, change in environment, parameter fluctuations, etc). I would just leave them be and give them a chance to settle. This is all assuming your parameters are squared away.

my parems are pretty high. This is my fault in part of the fact I was dosing fusion 1 and 2 without test kits. Alk is okay but others are higher than I would like

I don’t have a phosphate test kit but I didn’t think it was extremely necessary. I haven’t done my first water change yet and I’m not entirely sure I should or not. Every other thing I have is fine. I even have a piece of bubblegum digi that’s polyps are extended.

5 total zoa plugs and 2 are 100 percent open 2 are 100 percent closed and 1 that’s 50-50 like I said. And everything else listed above is happy.

No More peroxide dips if you can. Give them some time to heal from dip and the move around in various lighting. I usually give my zoa 3-7 days viewing them at every opportunity to determine the happy spot.

How often should I move them? Until they open up. Honestly I don’t even know what a dead zoa looks like
