Can’t keep torches happy

Hey guys. I keep buying torches and they open up a little bit for a day and then just go brown and melt. The only one I’ve been able to keep is a reverse grail. It looks okay but when I see videos of single head torches, makes mine look like garbage.
I’ve tried different flows and par. The spot that my grail is in is medium or low flow and almost in sand bed. I’ve put other torches there and they just won’t open up.
My tank is about 8 months old.
Other corals are happy.
I have a bunch of zoas
Rainbow dynamite chalice
Xmas and dragon soul favia
Gonis and alveopora
Candy cane
They’re all happy, but can’t get the euphyllia to be happy.
My parameters
Nitrate 11
Phosphate .05
Ph7.9 to 8.1
Alk 8.5
Mag 1470
Calcium high 400’s
All my tests are hanna except magnesium (AF)

what are some basics you guys check when your euphyllia aren’t happy

Torches are difficult euphyllia to sustain especially in young tanks. I keep mine mid tank in 200 par with random moderate flow.

Some thoughts:

Warfare:
Euphyllia can and do sting each other, it’s just that torches can be kept together and tolerate each others stingers. Have you put the new ones in a safe spot to observe?

Livestock:
Peppermint shrimp tear Euphyllia to shreds. That was the culprit in my early torch losses. Emerald crabs are also known to pick.

Infection:
Euphyllia are prone to infection with what may be a bacteria called Arcobacter. I ended up pulling a hammer and a Duncan that were rapidly dying in my tank, put them in a little hospital tank with 5 days of antibiotics. They recovered and actually thrived in that little tank which wasn’t even cycled. You can read more here:

Have you tried a green torch mid level on a frag rack? I got one from Petco a few months ago and he’s doing great and my tank parameters are not perfect. What lighting are you using? Have you considered renting a PAR meter?

Iv had the same issue, turns out it was my lighting , my surving torches like having PAR below 150, anything more they start to die

I turned my lights down to 60% ish

I have MP40 set to low flow reef and Nero’s set to random so it will be different. It’s decently low flow tho

dose magnesium by 50 - 100 ppm they might need extra magnesium. fragbox did a video on this. magnesium had the thing doing amazing in 1 day then even better the next.

I’m not sure what turned. But I’m having luck!!
Only thing I’m not sure of is that I see one out of the group very now and then just recede into the skeleton and back out slowly. But that’s no big deal
I watched that video too and have been meaning to do it but I don’t trust my MG tester. Every time I have done it, it’s been maxed. So I ordered a hanna one that I’m waiting on

Magnesium is already at 1470 though, it’s a good range for torches

Frag box did a video dosing his tank up to 1600 and the torch bounced right back. Its on YouTube I'll try to link it. They keep their store system at 1500-1600 and he swears by those numbers. His videos are great.
