Can a 1 micron sock filter detritus?

Looking for a way to spot clean sections of the sand bed effectively. Wondering if a 1 micron sock can block out detritus. Has anyone run a siphon to the sump's filter sock effectively to clean their sand bed?

1 micron will effectively trap much of the detritus you are vaccuming out. The big negative to 1 micron socks is that they don't do well being run continuously as they clog quite quickly. In this application, they would work well. I use a 5 micron sock in a similar capacity.
