I want a fuge to go in chamber 2 but it seems like the only place for a skimmer. Chamber two has a lid though like it's supposed to be a fuge and that's what the light sits on. I looked up recirculating skimmer and it is prohibitively expensive. Does anyone have any input? Are my dreams of a FUGE dead??

You could put a fuge in there and go with a hob skimmer instead. then you get both. OR you could put a skimmer in chamber 2 and try an ATS algae turf scrubber over chamber 4

Take a look at the reef octopus classic 110ext. It's a great external skimmer and usually can be found for under $250. I run one on my tank and love it. If that's out of the question an ATS is an option as said above. Or you could do a less traditional five and just grow cheato on the same section as your skimmer.

If you put a skimmer in chamber two the changing water level will give you issues. I have mine the same way. I believe it's definitely more suited to a fuge. And HOB skimmer or maybe try to pipe An external one into that other bulkhead in chamber one would be better I think. If it's possible

You could run a separate pump for it in your return section (4) or what I did which is "t" off of my return line to feed the skimmer. This way I only have to run 1 pump.
