Hello,

i would like to move my Eunicea calyculata gorgonian to another spot where it would be between 2 soft corals, a sinularia sp. & a cladiella.
Could there be some warfare between these when they touch or is it safe?

Thanks :)

IME, gorgonians aren’t one for warfare, softies tend to do more chemical warfare (I know leathers tend to do this).

So if they accidentally touch there wouldn't be a problem?
Shouldn’t be, if anything I’d be concerned about the Gorgonian’s health instead of the other 2.

Well, it's a rather cheap & dull looking gorgonian wich i want to move because he is in a nice spot that i want to use for a nicer piece of coral haha.

Gorgs don't sting. Mine are all brushing against other corals all day.

Gorgs, sinularia's, and cladiella all release toxins in the water that affect stony coral growth, which is something that happens slowly over time, you will be able to see it and take action.

However, gorgs and leathers can get stung by other corals that sting, so don't put them too close to stinging corals.

I have a softy & lps tank, should i be worried about the toxins or how does this work?

Unfortunately, thats hard to answer. The size of tank depends, the number and size of the corals depends, and corals have their own instincts can be aggressive or not at different times.

Personally I just run activated carbon in my softie tank using a little hob filter that I had lying around, and everything is fine the tank is almost 3 years old now. Activated carbon will remove the toxins.

I have a rather small tank (50 gallon) with about 50% softies & 50% LPS, could i add activated carbon inside a mesh bag in my filter sock or something?

Yes that will work. In my other tank I toss of mesh bag of carbon into the sump in the return area. Any area where there is good flow will be good.

Check out Mike C's softy tank - he had tons of gorg and softies all together and touching.
