I was looking at my tank and enjoying everything. Even said to myself, "hammer is getting big and full." I did a few things, and maybe 5 to 10 minutes later came back. Noticed one of the heads changed color. Seems strange to me. It is a dark purple with neon green tips. Now the top head looks almost teal. Any ideas on this?

Got it around March. It is doing well, and even has baby heads sprinting on the stalk.
I am stumped they can change colors if you just added it to you tank. Where there any changes in the tank when it changed color?

No just turned the powerheads off for feeding. Noticed it after that.

Do you have any “before” pictures? Or pictures of the stalk?
U found one from the day I put it in. It's the only other one I have. From March 3rd, and you can see the growth from then until now

Looks like a bicolor hammer. I have one that just split into two heads and one is predominantly green while the other is predominantly purple.

I agree, bi-color hammer. You can see the the top head was predominantly purple in the Before picture. There are several similar images on the search engines.

I know it is predominantly purple. The blue/real tint you can see in the pictures is what threw me off. Wasn't like that earlier in the day before I took the pictures

Quick update. I believe everything is fine. I think the head is splitting. May be causing the coloration, but still growing and looks healthy as ever.
