So unfortunately I have to quarantine my lionfish due to a bacterial infection. I filled up my QT tank and plugged everything in, only to find out the powerhead no longer works. It’s a 20 gallon long tank and the powerhead is a koralia 425 gph. I do have a backup powerhead for my DT which is a koralia 1150 gph. Could I use this powerhead in the QT tank? I need something to oxygenate the water but I don’t know if it would be too powerful and stress the lionfish out or something. Thanks

I think that would be way to much for that tank. I would check with my LFS to see if their open & get something smaller

Lfs is closed... only airstone I have was previously used with sick fish and is contaminated. I believe petco is open. If the powerhead I have is too powerful I could try to pick a smaller one up there.

That's what I would do unless you know another aquariest near you that you could borrow or buy one from.

Could you place the powerhead so that it goes into a large bowl in the corner that will diffuse some of the energy of the flow?

That’s a good idea, if petco doesn’t have any or is closed tomorrow I’ll have to try that. Thanks for the suggestion I would’ve never thought of that.

I've had to do this before for the same reason.
Between a bowl and different big pvc fittings.
