Can a scoly be saved once it is receding?

I was out of town for 4 days last weekend and had a tank sitter. When I got back in town, I found a chalice had fallen and was lying upside down on a scoly. Thick gel goop....they did not like touching each other clearly. The chalice seems to be doing fine now....but the scoly began receding....in a clockwise motion....almost immediately. About 1/4 turn each day would disappear. I'm down to less than 1/4 today. Anything I can do to save it? Or is this thing toast.

Advice, scolding and/or condolences are welcome. Something always happens when I'm gone!

I don't think it's long for this world, but I don't know if you have a lot of options aside from waiting. Sucks losing corals...

Sorry, does not look good to me.
If he still throws out his tentacles at night, fed daily, but not over feed, just daily, consistently.
Yup, they certainly can regenerate, but if the damage is extensive, probably not.
Algae builds in the fins, and then, flesh will not grow there.
