Can a sea hare carry ich/velvet?

There’s a great chart for the QT periods but I didn’t see sea hares on it. I’m in the middle of 76 day fallow and wondering if this will reset the clock. I know disease could come through in he free floating stage but if I rinse the sea hare well and there’s no fish for it to live off of, am I good? Or can disease hitchhike as well in the encrusting phase as it would with a snail/crab?

I think a sea hare would be the same as a sea slug, from a fish parasite prevention standpoint. So if this is the chart you referring to, it would recommend QT for 45-76 days:

I disagree. There is no evidence whatsoever that fish parasites can transfer on living non-hard surfaces like slugs, echinoderms, etc.
That article by Humblefish says as much.
Therefore there is no scientifically valid reason to claim that any QT is necessary for these, let alone 76 days quarantine.

Yeah, I’m kind of torn on this one myself.

No hard surfaces for something to attach. The problem is how do you rinse a sea slug or a sea hare to insure that there are no free swimmers accidentally transferred to the tank? That’s relatively easy to do with corals and snails, but I don’t know how to do it successfully with a slug/hare. Personally, I’d do at least 14 days quarantine in my invert tank for velvet with no new additions to the quarantine during that time and then transfer to a sterile tank for three days (actually I’d probably do two or three tank transfers over a week if it were my tank) before going into the display.
