Can acanthophyllia go on a bare bottom tank?

Asking for a friend, lol. But seriously, I have this nice show piece acantho that hasn't sold out of my frag tank so I want to move it to my display and it's bare bottom and I don't want it in a piece of POVC pipe like it is now

As long as the calcium skeleton is flat I would say yes, if not cut it using a coral saw and it will be fine.

You know the deal, wear gloves and be careful with it... They are delicate..

I did it and it went well. I only have the regular Gryphon so I had to take off the platter and bottom blade guide to get it done.

Acanthophyllia will do fine on a bare bottom. I wouldn't go cutting it but it's just my opinion. I've never had any LPS including trachyphyllia lay perfectly flat on the glass and they thrived just fine. Keep an eye on the flow.
