Hi all,

A Marine Betta and a lavendar tang have been in QT for almost 3 weeks. 1.6-1.9 has been the range I have seen while testing. I have also done 2 rounds of GC and started a 3rd today. I noticed a spot on the lavender tang about a week ago. It's pretty spazzy in QT so I figured it was likely a scratch. Yesterday I noticed something on the marine bettas fin. I thought maybe it was food or something stuck. Now I am concerned it may actually be a bad isopod. It is extremely hard to get a picture of but here are some of the better ones I got. I didn't think any inverts would survive copper. Also looks to have a sore above his eye? It's so hard to tell with all the spots. As of yesterday I am sitting right at 1.7. (glass is dirty and I fed to get him moving)

Two terrible quality phone videos-

Ok, I could see the mark above his eye in the second video. It’s probably just an injury, but I’d keep an eye on it for signs of infection. I can’t see where you are thinking there is an isopod though... I think it’s the spots lol

Where on his body is it - so I can look closer?

PraziPro sometimes might get them to dislodge, but otherwise as mentioned above - manual removal.

Lol soo many spots! I am hoping the spot above his eye is just a sore too! It's on the fin which are yellow and equally hard to see. It is so delicate that I am scared to try and pull it off. I am not sure it's an isopod or maybe something else. Surely 3 weeks of copper would have killed it by now right?

Does it look like this? Where did you get the fish? There is another active thread right now with a Tang bought from LA.

It's similarly shaped as that. It's pretty small. I am kind of wondering if it was on my lavender tang based on the spot it has and then detached and landed on the marine betta. I got them from a LFS but it was at a local frag swap. I will call them today to see where they came from. That picture looks like a limpit/snail almost.

I was just wondering because the OP for the above pic has tried Formalin and a FW dip with no luck.

I did a FW dip when I first got them but not since. I also feed focus and GC and Dr. G's caviar. (Tang loves it) I can try another FW dip this weekend too.

Ok, I see it now... not very clearly but I can see where it is.

Are you planning to treat with prazi at all, now that copper is finished? I think I would do the first dose now, and see if that does anything to it...

I am doing 4 weeks of copper. I am on my 3rd round of general cure (metro and prazi right?). :( I have a power head and air line for the added oxygen. Not really sure if I should try another medication or what?

Oh gotcha, I should have went back up and re-read the initial post. I missed the part about doing GC. How far apart were the doses?

5 days for first two and I started the 3rd yesterday. (Which was about 7 days from 2nd dose)

I would try Prazipro as it has a higher concentration than GC does.

Have you done a freshwater dip on either fish?

Just originally. I will try another this weekend I also have methylene blue. I could do a bath too. (Not sure it will do much but maybe some relief)

Did you see anything come off during the dip? I don’t know if you’ve seen this video, but shows you what I mean... the little white-ish colored sesame seed shaped things flying around are flukes:

No I didn't and I used a dark bucket. [emoji45] Argh. Do you think moving them to another QT with same copper levels would have any benefit? It's small but I can tell it's bothering him. I don't think it's big enough to kill him right now but what if there are more that I cannot see b/c of spots eeek. This is by far the coolest fish and I really want to get him healthy and into my DT. #marinebettapleasegetbetter

Well, I think if it’s still attached it will just come right along with him... so it wouldn’t really matter at that point. There are prazi-resistant flukes... but freshwater dip would still likely have some impact, or at the very least you would see others floating around.

I’m almost wondering if it’s not just a spot of lympho... both the spot on the tang and this one were on the fins right? Does it look anything like this?

The spot on tang and MB look like sores, almost like something detached from them. (Tang is almost healed up and so spazzy I cannot get any pictures) but the fin thing is definitely brown [emoji45] hopefully the current treatment has somewhat impacted it and will fall off with dips and a bath.

Okay so my weekend plans got derailed. My Apex went down and I spent all weekend figuring out back ups.

Noticed some antennas hanging out of my tangs mouth and a couple new spots on my Marine Betta. I am now fairly certain it's isopods. Will a fresh water dip get them to detach? Also-why is copper not killing them?
