Do you have good flow, surface agitation, and oxygenation in your tank?
It seems to me like strands of bacteria. I'd probably siphon as much as possible from the tank and try to figure out what is allowing it to grow.It feels slimy. It looks more like cotton in the water. And yeah, I’ve got a powerhead at the surface in case this stuff is draining the oxygen
I noticed something similar to this when I was siphoning it out, but it looked more brown in color. It seemed to clump up behind the rocks and spread out all over. Any ideas what caused yours?I was actually about to post similar... you mention cotton-like. Mine reminds me of a spider web but it stays back in the rocks only. It was behind a frag that I moved out. I've also got a powerhead at the surface and treating with chemiclean at the moment.

I'm not sure. I noticed it in a hole in the rock when I removed a frag plug, I figured it was a sponge of some type but it's spread out over a the last few months. Tank is 3 years old and it's been there for about a year I'd guess, it didn't seem to cause any issues but my Zoas and Duncans haven't been growing much at all.I noticed something similar to this when I was siphoning it out, but it looked more brown in color.
