I don’t think it’s the type of wrasse my lfs said it was. Just curious what kind you think it is? They told me blue flasher wrasse.

It hasn't been officially given a Latin name, so it goes by cf. cyanopleura, meaning to confer or compare with the description of cyanopleura when it does get described.

"Rainbow" fairy wrasse is a generic name that has been applied to many fairy wrasses. I think when the supplier doesn't know what species they have they call it Rainbow. Really doesn't mean much.

Unfortunately you are correct!
 
Or they have a Scott's fairy wrasse to sell and know what it is. But it's easier to sell it as a "rainbow fairy wrasse"!
