I got some aquacultured gulf live rock and I’m trying to ID this critter. It seems like some kind of crab that is wearing some pieces of plant and stuff. It moves around the tank, I’ve seen it in a few different locations.

Looks like a decorator crab bit hard to tell. Any other angle photo’s?
This one’s not as good but it’s a different angle. If he’s a decorator crab, is he good or bad? So far he’s not bothering anything.

I only just found out I have one of these a couple days ago. From my research, sounds like mostly reef safe put may clip a polyp here or there to help with the camouflage.

I just have some basic soft corals so I’d honestly think it was pretty cool if he did that. I’ll leave him in there for now and then move him to a refugium or something if he gets into trouble.

I used to have one years ago in my first SW tank, a 55 gal with gravel for substrate. He would pick it up and roam around looking like a rock monster

I’m a newb :) It seems like it is happy scuttling all over the TBS live rock and macro algae I have though.
Mine came from TBS as well. I’m also a new to saltwater, hopefully I can keep the little guy happy. He seems like he’s doing his thing so far.

So far he’s decided to wear a piece of macro algae that is huge, so he’s hilarious and easy to spot.
