Can anyone ID this red algae growing around my chaeto?

Can anyone ID this for me please, it’s like a red algae growing in my sump

I've had a look at cultures of dragon breath and it could possibly be a contender but i'm not 100% convinced

Its only growing in the section lit by my Kessil H380 of my sump - the other two sections where i grow cheato from doesn't have it present

Looks like Red Slime Algae aka cyano. Had the green version in my sump. Eventually, despite my efforts to clean the chaeto, cut the chaeto, etc., I ended up tossing it. It outcompetes the chaeto for light & nutrients and the chaeto declines slowly. Smelly mess, too.

I Agree with @Big G, I’ve heard of this a few times and most people end up starting over with fresh chaeto

Hmmm, I'm not 100% it is cyano, red cyano slime sometimes forms at the surface at one of my chambers in the sump, I grow chaeto in three separate sump chambers and usually the first chamber does get surface cyano which i have to clear every now and again

That is a deep maroon style red and whereas this is a much brighter red and fluffy as oppose to slimy

Hi Chris, I have the same problem with my chaeto with this kind algae. do you found a solution to eradicate the red algae?

Looks like a combination of red dragon macro, and cyano. Reduce amount of time light is on and blow loose with a turkey baster. Have you tested Phos level in the sump ?
