I have been trying for days to fine out what these are on my live rock. This is the best picture I can get, but they have little green almost transparent polyp looking things coming out of those tube like things. The "polyps" also glow in my moonlights.

I guess I could have been a little more specific as to what to look at in the picture... : ) It is the 3 brown bushels scattered at the top of the purple rock. There is probably 5-8 tubes on each bushel. If you look closely to the very top one you can faintly see the "polyps" I was mentioning before.

i have tried everything to get a picture of them, that is actually the best picture I have been able to get so far. When I look up tube worms I get similar looking pictures but no one seems to know exactly what they are. Some say they are just feather dusters on the rocks and others say hydroids... They have obviously been there a while on that rock because they are encrusted in the thick coralline so I would say it's safe to say they are not harmful since that rock just came out of a reef tank. The previous owner had no idea what they were either.

so after a little bit of guessed guidance from here, I was able to find out they are colonial athecate hydroids. Now the question is are they a problem and how do I get rid of them?

Problem, yes. Cook the rocks its on or try shooting them up with lemon juice, kawlk, or Joes Juice. Kinda like killing Aiptasia.
