Hi, I have just started getting into marine aquatics, and wondered if anyone can identify this coral, Its the blue mushroom type. This is a tank I have seen and everyone I know doesn't know what it is.

Blue discosoma mushrooms.

Invasive.
…I prefer “prolific” and by their nature most soft corals are…

was going to also throw out “metallic mushroom” as that’s what they’re known ‘round my way.

Looks for someone starting out you’ve made good coral choices and it looks very nice.

When I'm buying a majano wand and franks F aiptasia to kill them, I think I reserve the right to call them invasive lol.

Plus they are already borderline taking over the tank in the photo.....

Lol. My new tank hates mushrooms so it’s not a concern for me. I’m happy to remove them for you, just let the rock sit in my tank for a month and they’ll melt

Only mushroom that’s grown in my tank in the last 5 years are bounce mushrooms

(I had no idea aiptais-X would kill then either)

It's a tank I saw while doing a tour of a facility I was at, but couldn't get in touch with anyone to find out what they are. I can't take any credit for that tank, sorry

No problem. Be aware they will usually start killing anything they touch.
Right, I will have a look into them. I'm looking for some shrooms to give it some colour, but wanting to stick to soft corals as I'm not confident with sps or lps at the moment. It's a bit of a trial before I go for something bigger.

Thanks again for your help

They grow like wildfire but I like the. I have these and superman disco and they arent terrible with spreading. My Hairy mushroom is a whole different story

I do have a fuzzy mushroom and that's not really done anything. My kenya decided to fall apart and now I have about 3 growing. I had a red forest fire and that's just floated off somewhere. The blue discosoma really caught my eye though

I see a toadstool and some GSP but no fuzzy mushroom. Maybe you are mistaken?

Looks super pleasant.

As stated, watch out. Green Star polyps, Xenia, metallic mushrooms, etc are prolific and will take over your tank. Also, once they’re on the rock, it’s hard to get rid of them.

These were always “free” corals people were happy to give away and it became apparent why.

Still, if you want a soft coral tank, congratulations! They’re overlooked corals that are easy to care of and fill out a tank quickly and nicely

Thank you, I'm still learning and know I have a very long way to go. I've tried to keep my Xenia on a separate rock away from the main feature as I was told it can be uncontrollable. I've tried the same with the GSP too. None of the rocks are actually fixed/cemented in so I can move them if required. I have a finger leather coming tomorrow and then not quite sure where to go from there. So far I think the corals have cost me about £75. The tank was free as it was sat in the returns at work, and then all I have bought is a siche pump and rfg nozzles, and then 2 media baskets for the chambers. It's a very cheap set up compared to some nano aquariums I've seen. If it goes well then I might invest in something a lot bigger, but want to learn a few things first.

Good thinking keeping them separate on their own islands- those corals will grow on the glass *and* even the sand so be careful.

“soft” tanks are amazing and you’re doing a great job.

They look great, I would assume invasive due to amount on the rock to left... This species could not be contained to rock hence it's spread throughout.. just my opinion
:)
Good luck on your journey though
