Guys,

I came across this old pic I took before of my bubble coral in my previous tank. Can anyone spot anything out of the ordinary??? I'll let you guys guess after seeing the pic.

???
!

It's a pyjama cardinal. It was a bit stressed and one night after work when I came home. I couldn't see it so I thought it died and the hermits took care of it. Turns out it managed to swim in the mouth of the bubble coral.

I also have a plerogyra but a pearl coral. They look so much like euphyllia but are more aggresive and have much larger mouths, more like an anemones. It can take in a 2" silver side with no issues. Mine is over 8 years old. The size a a foot ball when expanded.

This is no where near a size of a football and I'm just curious whether it's happened to anyone else because it had to have swam in it's mouth where anemones can move around

It may have just been week or died and drifted near it. Anemones only move when not happy. They pretty much wait for food the get near it. Same as what probably happened to you cardinal. Plerogyra have very long sweepers that can catch and help pull in food. Mine does not sting fish or kill fish but can wrap around a piece and pull it in. Just like an anemone does. The fish if healthy would be able to get away so it was not. The coral was more than likely just taking advantage of a free meal. Pleogyra can expand their mouths to a size that would amaze you.

Yeah I'm sure that was the case. I just never imagined it would end up in its mouth!
