I'm not gonna comment on the use of calcium reactors cause I've honestly never ran one but its common to run both due to the lower PH caused by calcium reactors. I would run the kalk through top off somehow and adjust the calcium reactor to make up for any extra need after that.

and u saying that cause u have them working together and if u have them how are u making them work together....
I ran both for several years. They compliment each other very well, as the Kalk reactor tends to increase tank pH, and the CaRx tends to depress the pH. I am currently running only a kalk reactor as my system demands are very light, however I am planning a DIY CaRx to supplement as demand increases.

I am getting ready to start adding kalk in my top off in addition to my CaRx. I am worried about spiking the alk when I start adding kalk to the top off.
currently I am running my reactor pretty hard to keep my tank at 8.5dkh, and I dont really want to raise my alk much above that. So I will have to try and find a balance point where I can dial my reactor back just the right amount.

I run it through my top off in smaller doses 24/7. It helps offset the low ph from the reactor and it supposedly helps precipitate phosphates and bonds to excess co2 in the water column.

I have been running a calcium reactor for many years and my PH was always low, around 7.8 I been running a kalk reactor for the last year with my ATO and my PH is now 8.4 day 8.3 night. I run both reactors 24/7
