If I use a hang on back refugium system on my quarantine tank, would cupramine or other copper medium used for quarantine destroy the cheato? I do not care about the copepods or other invertebrates because there will be none in the quarantine system. I just need cheato for nutrients export.

I cannot edit the title of this thread. It should be quarantine, not quantine.

Copper will destroy chaeto given enough time but I have used it in a tank with chelated copper to help with ammonia control before.

I wouldn't worry about nutrient export on a QT system. If you have a nutrient issue you should adjust your feeding schedule imo. Nitrates getting up to 80ppm+ won't be an issue.
